At what height should I mount my bathroom mirror?

When determining the height of a bathroom mirror, it is crucial that it can be used by all members of the household regardless of height. Ideally, its centre should be at eye level - that is 150-160 cm from the floor.

Also remember to:

Install the mirror at such a distance from the washbasin as to prevent it from being notoriously splashed with water;
Choose a larger mirror if the bathroom is used by people of different heights;
Choose a larger mirror if the bathroom is used by people of different heights.

By opting for a decorative mirror, you have a little more freedom in terms of installation, but it is still worth following ergonomic principles.

How to choose the size of your bathroom mirror

Take the cabinet with the sink as a reference point, as it is usually above it that we mount mirrors in bathrooms. The bathroom mirror should be at least as wide as the washbasin, but no wider than the cabinet itself.

For example: if we have a 70 cm wide washbasin cabinet and a 50 cm wide washbasin, we can install a 50-70 cm wide mirror.

Usually, the wash basins in Polish homes are 40-60 cm wide, and the cabinets underneath them from about 40 (in the case of overlay wash basins) to 90-100 cm. This gives us a size range for bathroom mirrors: 40-100 cm.

In the case of really small bathrooms, however, we can deviate from this rule and go for mirrors that take up most of the wall above the washbasin. All this, of course, to optically enlarge the space. In larger interiors, on the other hand, we can choose more decorative models, for example sets of several smaller mirrors to create an interesting visual effect.

Round mirror - a modern touch in your bathroom

Round mirrors are one of the most fashionable trends in bathroom design. Thanks to their shape, they are ideal for modern interiors, adding lightness and harmony. They are also an excellent choice in bathrooms with limited space, as their shape does not overwhelm the interior.

Benefits of installing a round mirror:

Optical balance - round shapes bring a natural harmony to the interior.
Elegance - minimalist round mirrors suit many different styles - from industrial to Scandinavian to boho.
Modernity - the use of a round mirror without a frame or with a delicate border introduces an elegant touch.

Remember that round mirrors work well with the straight lines of bathroom furniture, creating a striking contrast.

But how about a classic - rectangular mirrors

We have mentioned the advantages of round bathroom mirrors above, but this does not mean that the old and familiar rectangular mirrors are inferior. They are especially suitable for small bathrooms. Since usually the furniture in a bathroom is rectangular, rectangular mirrors often fit into this layout - this is important especially if you want to cover the maximum free wall space with a mirror.

Summary

It's unlikely that you'll mount a mirror in the wrong place - intuitively, we feel that the best place would be the wall above the washbasin. However, by taking a more conscious approach to choosing a bathroom mirror, we can visually transform the interior of the bathroom, adding lightness, modernity or elegance.
