Almost everyone has heard of industrial style, but few know exactly what it is and what it stands for. Therefore, in the next episode of Secret Life of Furniture, we decided to reveal the secrets of industrial style. With us, you will also find out which trendy furniture and accessories to choose.
The industrial style was born as a result of the recession that prevailed in the USA in the 1950s. It resulted from the need to develop abandoned factories. Once a necessity, it is nowadays associated with luxe, minimalist and trendy interiors. And what exactly does this design style express itself in?
When we imagine an industrial interior, we usually visualise rooms with high ceilings, in which the individual functionalities of the design elements complement each other. Are you worried that your flat is not a typical loft? No problem, just follow a few tips!
Avoid partition walls and other elements which optically reduce the space. High ceilings and large windows emphasise the spacious character of the room.
Stylish design
The industrial style loves raw materials, reminiscent of old factories. Natural walls, ventilation structure elements and piping should be the focus of attention. It is therefore advisable to use brick, concrete, steel, glass, old wood and any other elements that come to mind.
The colour range should also be strictly defined. White, greys and beiges predominate. Such colours enlarge the space and give the impression of a cool atmosphere and neutrality . If strong accents are desired, dark reds and turquoise tones can be used.
Trendy industrial-style furniture
When it comes to on-trend industrial style furniture, keep in mind that simple forms and minimalist designs work well in loft spaces. When it comes to upholstery, three-seater sofas and huge corner sofas will work best as the focal point of a large space.
